Inspector Sheila Claims Not Yet Served With A Suspension

The police inspector charged with insulting the modesty of two individuals and criminally intimidating a senior citizen claimed she has yet to be served with a letter suspending her from her duties.
Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar said she is thus surprised why Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail claimed she had been suspended.
"The fact is that to this day I have not been served a suspension letter, so there are still contradicting things," she told reporters after being charged at the Selayang Magistrate's Court today.
Her lawyer M Manoharan also remarked that she was "still a police officer".
Police in a statement later clarified that a suspension under Section 78 of the Police Act had already been imposed on Sheila.
Privileges suspended
Police Integrity and Standards Compliances Department chief Azri Ahmad said this meant that all of Sheila's privileges as an officer were suspended until decided otherwise by a disciplinary authority.
Sheila caught public attention after videos of her arguing with several individuals went viral.
She was nabbed on June 19, and three days later, Saifuddin said that Sheila was suspended pending investigations.
Sheila was brought to court today and charged with criminal intimidation against a 69-year-old woman and for insulting the modesty of a man on June 15.
She was also charged for insulting the modesty of another man - this time a police corporal - also on the same day.
She claimed trial to all charges and was released on RM5,000 bail with one surety.

She showed the media a bruise on her wrist, reportedly from having handcuffs cinched too tight.
"It was very tight. I told them, please loosen up the handcuff, (but the reply) 'diam, ikut' (shut up, comply).
"This is how they treat a police officer," she lamented. - Mkini
