In Mask Dispute Police Question Cafe Owner S Video Evidence

A screenshot from a CCTV recording showing the police accosting the women at her car.PETALING JAYA: Johor police rejected a claim that no one else was around when a cafe owner was recently fined for not wearing a face mask in a crowded public place.
The police insisted that she had breached movement restriction rules, and disputed a video recording she presented as evidence of her claim.
The woman, Nur Izzati Aqilah Lokman Hakim, had a clip from a CCTV recording of the moment she was fined.
A Johor police source told FMT that while the particular angle of the CCTV recording only showed Nur Izzati, other angles would have shown that there were others nearby who were wearing masks.
The source also shared with FMT a picture that showed a woman leaving a shop as a mask-less Nur Izzati grabbed her bags from her car. “Look at the angle of the picture I sent. There are other people around her who are wearing masks. Why is she not wearing a mask?”
He added that the movement control rules set by the National Security Council clearly stated that masks are mandatory in outdoor public places when other people are present.

Its chief, Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, said people were coming and going into the premises near the cafe at the time of the incident, adding that there was a cafe worker who wore a face mask.
But Nur Izzati disputed the statement and said the CCTV recording showed no one else around at the time besides her children and four policemen.
“At this point, I wouldn’t mind paying the RM1,000 (fine) but all I want is for people to know that I am not lying about the fact that I was not in a crowded area,” she said on Facebook.
She also pointed out that the only worker in her cafe at the time was living with her in the same household. - FMT
