I Will Meet Anyone To Discuss Reform Agenda Anwar

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said that he had no reservations about meeting anyone in Parliament as he is open for discussions including with those who support the reform agenda
The Port Dickson MP was responding to questions from reporters on his meeting with Umno's Padang Rengas MP Nazri Abdul Aziz at Parliament today
This comes amidst turbulent times for Umno, now in the opposition, as its MPs, assemblypersons and ordinary members leave the party following its defeat in the May 9 election
The latest spate of resignations occurred yesterday when more than a dozen Sabah Umno leaders quit the party including four MPs
Also today, photos which went viral on social media depicting Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad meeting with several Umno leaders including former cabinet members were confirmed as authentic
The rumour mills have been abuzz with theories that former Umno stalwarts are anxious to secure their political future and are reaching out to leaders in the ruling Pakatan Harapan to see this through
Some observers say the move is also in hope that they avoid being hauled to court for alleged past transgressions while part of the previous administration
Met after a book launch in Universiti Malaya today, Anwar pointed out he headed the newly-formed parliamentary caucus on reform and governance
"I meet everyone in Parliament and in the caucus too. Other than Lim Kit Siang, there are representatives from Umno, PAS and Warisan
"We are open in the discussions before the caucus meeting but the discussions are not about joining which party but to support the reform agenda," he said
Nazri, meanwhile, when briefing Selangor Umno members, claimed he had discussed four party matters with Anwar during the duo's meeting
Among others, Nazri said he asked for Umno not to dissolved and for Anwar not to harass the former premier Najib Abdul Razak when he becomes the prime minister
Anwar, however, said that claims of harassment did not arise."We are not harassing him (Najib). But there's a basis for the authorities to investigate and the attorney-general to charge him because the country is burdened with a huge loss of funds
"So if Najib is found responsible, that is the duty of the government and I support the government's decision," said Anwar. - Mkini
