I Have Proof Zahid Asked For Help Over Court Case Says Muhyiddin
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin says he has evidence that his Umno counterpart, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, had asked him to intervene in his ongoing court case when he was the prime minister.
(FMT) – The Perikatan Nasional chairman said Zahid had the right to take a “sumpah laknat”, or religious oath, to deny the allegations, but maintained that this was the truth.
“It’s his right to take an oath. But when you’re talking to the people, speak the truth, don’t lie. There is evidence and that night (during a ceramah), I have shown the witnesses. But if he wants to take an oath multiple times, it’s up to him.
“I won’t take an oath because I have never lied. I speak what’s right although it might be hard to take. This is something that’s true, it’s not made up or intentionally played up because of the Johor elections,” he said after chairing a National Recovery Council meeting today.
Muhyiddin recently claimed he received requests from Zahid and former prime minister Najib Razak to intervene in their court cases, which he declined as he did not want to interfere in judicial affairs.
Zahid then said in a Facebook post that he was willing to take a religious oath to deny Muhyiddin’s claim that he had asked him to intervene in his court case. He also challenged Muhyiddin to do the same.
Najib had also maintained that he never sought Muhyiddin’s help to clear him of corruption charges.
