How About Allies With Videos Ti Questions Loke
Former MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker has dismissed DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke’s claim of taking the “moral high ground” in Sabah as nothing more than a “stage act”.
In a statement, Ti (above) questioned DAP and Pakatan Harapan’s alliance with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), which is mired in a mining scandal, as well as their cooperation with Umno at the federal level.
The reality, he said, is that DAP’s so-called moral posturing is nothing more than a stage act.
“During the last general election, DAP demonised MCA for its ties with Umno leaders facing corruption charges, particularly party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. DAP told Malaysians that MCA had lost its credibility and moral standing.
“Yet today, DAP itself has chosen to ally with the very same coalition and leaders it once condemned MCA for associating with. If MCA’s association was unacceptable then, what makes DAP’s embrace of the same coalition acceptable now?
“DAP has chosen to ally not only with Umno, but also with GRS - a coalition whose leaders are tainted with numerous videos and controversies.

DAP sec-gen Anthony Loke“If MCA’s association was unacceptable then, what makes DAP’s embrace of the very same coalition, and of GRS with its baggage, acceptable now?” he added.
Ti was responding to Loke’s remarks at a fundraising dinner in Kota Kinabalu last night, where the DAP leader highlighted that there were “no videos” implicating Sabah DAP leaders.
Selective accountability?
Loke quipped that when Malaysiakini released the slew of videos, he had asked Sabah DAP chief Phoong Jin Zhe if there was one of him, which the latter denied.
He said this proved that DAP could be trusted, stressing that its political culture was fundamentally different.
However, Ti described this as “pandai tayang (show) and pandai wayang (charade)”.
He further questioned whether DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng, who is on trial for allegedly using his position as then-Penang chief minister to solicit a 10 percent cut from the RM6.3 billion undersea tunnel project, had been subjected to the same tough scrutiny and standards that DAP demands of others.
“Or is accountability only applied selectively when it suits DAP’s political agenda?” he asked.

Businessperson Albert TeiSince last November, businessperson Albert Tei has released a slew of videos and other material implicating more than a dozen GRS assemblypersons, including senior members of the state cabinet, in a mining scandal.
Tei and two of the assemblypersons have since been charged, but the authorities’ silence on the others has prompted the opposition and critics to allege a cover-up ahead of the state polls this year. - Mkini
