Rosmawati Mohd Zain had earlier pleaded guilty to the offence when she was charged before Sessions Judge M. M Edwin Paramjothy today.
As the sound of crying rang across the courtroom, Rosmawati said she was remorseful and promised not to repeat the same offence again.
"I was so stressed due to the hardship we are all facing and expressed it in my Facebook posting.
"I hope the court can hand down a very minimum fine against me… my children need me," said the mother of four.
Deputy public prosecutor Noor Dayana Mohamad, however, pressed for a deterrent sentence against the accused who was unrepresented.
The court later fined Rosmawati RM9,000 in default six months jail.
Rosmawati was charged with insulting the King on her Facebook account 'Rosmawati Mohd Zain'.
She was accused of uploading a post with the intent to annoy other people about 7pm on May 25 this year.
The content was read by another Facebook user at the Cyber Crime and Multimedia Investigation Division, Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Bukit Aman police headquarters, here, at 1.06pm on June 1.
The offence falls under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 carries a maximum fine of RM50,000 or one year's jail or both.
Rosmawati paid the fine. - NST
