Heard Of The Giant Pig Island In Malaysia

RECENTLY, a panoramic video of a beautiful island surfaced, capturing the attention of the cyberspace.
The netizen who posted the video post said the place received very little love from tourists due to its name, Pulau Babi Besar.
Apparently marketing is everything and the Muslim majority population might be a little skittish to visit a place with such a name.

Netizen @missy5394977216 who saw the video sarcastically said that the island was still beautiful and pristine because of the name, alluding to the fact that it scares away the trash-making crowd.

“Change it to Pulau Khinzir Besar. People won’t be so ashamed to visit it then,” suggested @hasfaniAhmad.
However, @intannedd said people do not visit the place as it was expensive. Echoing her thoughts were @mnashahu, stating that the food there was not only expensive, but not delicious too. @mnashahu added that she could have helped them with the cooking instead.
One netizen, however, cautioned that the place was infested with sand fleas. He claimed it was not safe for the kids to swim or play at the beach.

Another netizen who visited the island sometime back added that the place was so quiet, not unlike a private island.
According to @KrishnaKum30612, the island was named so because there were many wild boars roaming the area. “But they don’t disturb people,” he said, adding that a boat ride from Mersing to the island takes about only 30 minutes.

“Pulau Tioman is more beautiful. It is just slightly further away from Pulau Babi Besar,” said @AndySaiden while netizen @faridhadad1976 suggested Pulau Dayang as an alternative.
According to stephmylifetravel.com, Pulau Babi Besar resembles the Maldives with its white beaches and blue sea.
The website stated that the resorts open in March, when the monsoon season is over, and close at the end of October. — Focus Malaysia
