Hamzah S Ex Aide Hit With Another Graft Charge

Former home minister Hamzah Zainudin’s former political secretary is facing another corruption charge, this time over alleged soliciting of a RM350,000 bribe.
Sayed Amir Muzzakkir Al Sayed Mohamad pleaded not guilty before the Shah Alam Sessions Court this morning.
Yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, he claimed trial to two charges of allegedly receiving the RM350,000 cash bribe as an inducement to help Nexuscorp Group Sdn Bhd secure a RM381 million tender for equipment supply and maintenance to the police.
During today’s Sessions Court proceedings before judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud Harun, Sayed (above) was charged over alleged soliciting of the same amount for the firm to obtain the tender.
The tender is for maintenance and supply of equipment for the infrastructure, server, software and radio of Rampnet users.
The 41-year-old was accused of soliciting the amount from the company’s managing director Wan Azhar Mohamed Yusof around 4pm in December 2020.
Sayed allegedly committed the offence at Nexuscorp Group's office at Jalan Keluli 7/109, Kawasan Perindustrian Seksyen 7, Shah Alam, Selangor.
The charge was framed under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009. If convicted, the accused may be jailed up to 20 years, and fined five times the alleged graft amount or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
Same terms
Deputy public prosecutor Fatin Farhana Ismail applied for the same bail of RM60,000 with one surety and other terms previously set at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court be utilised for the present case.
The other bail terms are for the accused to surrender his passport to the criminal court, not to disturb the prosecution witnesses, and to report to the MACC office in Kuala Lumpur once a month.
Fatin said the prosecution is also applying for the present case to be transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.
Defence counsel Md Yunos Shariff informed the Shah Alam Sessions Court they have no objection to the prosecutor’s applications.
