Hajiji Sabah Cabinet To Discuss Anti Hopping Law
Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor said today that the state cabinet would need to study the proposed anti-party hopping enactment before tabling it in the state assembly.
He did not set a date for the discussion on the matter but said the cabinet would then decide when to table the enactment in the state assembly.
"I will bring it to the cabinet to decide the date for tabling. Be patient, we will make an announcement when we are having a state assembly sitting,’’ he told reporters in Kota Kinabalu today.
He had earlier launched the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) at the Kota Kinabalu International Convention Centre. Also present were Sabah Progressive Party president Yong Teck Lee, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku deputy president Robert Tawik and Sabah BN deputy chairperson Yakub Khan.
Hajiji, who is Gagasan Rakyat president, rejected claims that the state government was deliberately delaying the tabling of the enactment in the state assembly.
In his speech, Hajiji said Gagasan Rakyat was a platform of “solidarity of Sabah voice” for the various races in the state to support Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s (GRS) Sayangi Sabah agenda of 'Sabah First', 'Sabah Forward', 'Sabah Prosper' and 'Sabah United'.
He said this GRS-inspired unity would ensure that Sabah’s interests would continue to be protected in the Federation of Malaysia.
Hajiji said he was still supported by an inclusive and responsive team after the state had gone through a political crisis.
He said this had enabled Sabah to achieve various successes, including increasing state revenue to almost RM7 billion compared to RM4 billion when Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya was launched about two years ago and recording domestic investments of RM33.4 billion.
