Hajiji Confident Grs Will Secure Fresh Mandate At Sabah Polls

 The GRS chairman says the continued cooperation among its six remaining component parties will ensure the opposition will not be able to match the strength of Sabah’s largest local political coalition.

The GRS chairman said with the continued cooperation among its six remaining component parties, the opposition would be unable to match the strength of Sabah’s largest local political coalition, Harian Metro reported.
He expressed appreciation to the leaders of the component parties who have remained loyal to GRS despite two founding members – Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku and the Sabah Progressive Party – leaving the coalition to pursue their own paths ahead of the Nov 29 polls.

“With our strong spirit and unity, no opposition force can shake us,” he told reporters after launching the GRS election machinery at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu today.
“I am deeply grateful to all our component partners who continue to stand with us in this struggle despite our different backgrounds and histories.
“No one can undermine our unity. God willing, GRS will receive a fresh mandate in the coming state election.
“There is no other coalition as large as GRS that unites local parties and champions the rights of Sabahans as equal partners in Malaysia.
“In politics, we know that some may choose a different path and leave (GRS). But what matters most is that our strength remains intact because of those who remain loyal and committed to GRS.”
Hajiji said the unity within GRS reflects the strength of Sabah’s local parties, which must be preserved.
This state election is shaping up to be yet another crowded contest, with GRS set to clash with Barisan Nasional despite both coalitions reaching a pact with Pakatan Harapan.
Perikatan Nasional, Warisan, Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat, STAR, Sabah Progressive Party and Parti Gemilang Anak Sabah are also expected to field candidates for the 73 seats up for grabs.
The state election will be held on Nov 29, with nomination day falling on Nov 15 and early voting set for Nov 25.
A total of 1,784,843 Sabahans are eligible to cast their ballots. - FMT
