Gua Musang Mp Latest Bersatu Lawmaker To Back Anwar
Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim is the latest Bersatu MP to break ranks and give his support to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Following in the footsteps of Kuala Kangsar MP Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid And Labuan MP Suhaili Abdul Rahman, Mohd Azizi issued a statement tonight on Facebook in which he gave Anwar his backing.
“I have examined and listened to the Budget 2024 presentation by the prime minister and finance minister, with the main goal being to stimulate economic recovery while also easing the financial burden for Malaysians.
“I as Gua Musang MP hereby declare I give full support to the leadership of Anwar as prime minister starting from the date this media statement is issued (Nov 7).
“My decision is intended to ensure the welfare of the residents in my constituency is protected and that they will continue to receive benefits.
“I also want to express my support for the government’s initiatives to prioritise the welfare of the people of this country until the next general election,” said Mohd Azizi.
“I have no intention of leaving or betraying Bersatu, but to ensure that Gua Musang is in step with the federal government, it is appropriate for me to join the ranks of the Putrajaya leadership led by Anwar,” he added.
Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin recently announced that both Iskandar and Suhaili had been suspended from the party, for four years and six years respectively, by the party’s disciplinary board committee.
They were both also relieved of all party posts.
The support of the three MPs gives Anwar’s government a two-thirds majority. - Mkini
