Annuar Musa said the coalition is up against factors that it has never faced before. (Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: Former Ketereh MP Annuar Musa has reminded Barisan Nasional not to think it can cruise to victory at the general election (GE15).
Annuar, who was dropped from BN’s list of candidates for GE15, warned his coalition comrades that youth voters and the political instability since the last general election would play a pivotal part in the Nov 19 polls.
BN leaders have previously said that the coalition’s commanding wins in the Melaka and Johor state elections meant it had a good chance of winning GE15.
“Honestly, I want to tell my friends in BN that if they feel this will be an easy election, I think they are wrong,” the former BN secretary-general said during an event in Hulu Terengganu last night.

“We are up against a lot of factors that we have never faced before.
“Firstly, we are facing many young voters because the voting age has been lowered to 18.
“Also, the government has changed three times (since the last election), which will also be a factor when the people make their choice,” added the Ketereh Umno chief.
Some five million will be voting for the first time this year, largely as a result of the government introducing automatic voter registration and lowering the minimum voting age to 18 from 21.
The BN government suffered a shock defeat in the 2018 general election after roughly six decades in power. However, the Pakatan Harapan coalition, which came to power in May 2018, collapsed 22 months later.
The Perikatan Nasional government, which took over in March 2020, fell after then prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin lost majority support in August 2021, with Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob then forming the next government. - FMT
