This, health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said included international border control, implementation of various standard operating procedures (SOP), Covid-19 testing and screening; be it on the ground, close contact detection, isolation of suspected and infected cases, as well as other public health actions by various agencies.
"The impact of these actions will be assessed from time to time and will be discussed with the government during the special session with the National Security Council," he said in a statement today.
As such, Dr Noor Hisham said the decision to allow inter-state or district travel would depend on several factors, and required a joint decision with the government.
He said among the factors that would be taken into consideration included the number of Covid-19 daily infections, current trend and values of R-Naught (R0), the current trend of Covid-19 deaths, bed occupancy, the situation of infected health workers, and laboratory and surveillance testing activities (RT-PCR and RTK Antigen).
"Therefore, public health control action is still needed while we are ensuring that the immunisation programme runs smoothly.
"We hope that all parties (including those who have received the vaccine) will fully comply with the SOP until herd immunity is achieved." - NST
