Flip Flop Over Ecrl Twice In A Day
PRIME Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad made two contradictory statements about the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) in a single day! Amazing!!!
Earlier in the day, he said the government has to cancel the RM81 billion (whose figure is it?) because its too big a burden for Malaysia, and that the country will be in debt for the next 30 years if it is implemented.
Later in the evening, he said the Cabinet has yet to reach a decision on whether to cancel or to continue it.
WHAT? How could a PM 'flip-flop' on this matter? Doesn't he has full control of the government? Its really beyond comprehension!
Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said on Monday that he was not aware of it, and that the project is still on. A day earlier Economic Minister Azmin Ali said ECRL project has been cancelled by the Cabinet for the high interest it has to pay.
Now, which is which?
Guan Eng was even 'directed' by the Prime Minister to stop commenting about the subject for the time being. In other words, he was told to shut up until a final decision is reached but Azmin didn't get similar instruction.
Why the sudden change after Cabinet members were involved in a polemic over the matter? Is it the pressure and accusation that it is Dr M's political punishment for the three states - namely Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan -- for chosing BN and Pas after May 9?
I was made to understand that a few portions of the project have already began its groundwork, ang some 30,000 local and foreign workers hired. And now, their fate dangles on a thin line, hoping for a better prospect pending a final announcement next week.
So, what is the status now? Who is right and who is wrong?
