Eggs meant for cooking were also left unwashed, still smeared with chicken faeces, before being placed in plastic containers.
Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) corporate and public relations director Mohd Fauzi Aziz Maamor said checks further revealed that raw food was stored in refrigerators without adhering to food safety guidelines, posing risks of cross-contamination and food poisoning.

"Besides being dirty, poorly managed and not regularly maintained, operators had also failed to install sufficient grease traps, while the existing ones were not serviced," he said.
During the operation on Tuesday night, six out of seven premises inspected were found operating without valid business licences and without registration under the Food Safety Information System of Malaysia (FoSIM).

As a result, MBSA issued six closure notices under the MBSA Food Establishment Licensing By-Laws 2007 and four compounds for various offences.
"MBSA also issued seven compounds and sealed all premises ordered to close immediately," he said.
Fauzi added that the owners accepted the notices issued by the Environmental Health Department and Enforcement Department, admitted their offences, and agreed to cease operations.

"They also informed us they were seeking new, more suitable locations to continue their business," he said. - NST
