Faiz Says Ready To Join Pkr Just Hours After Leaving Bersatu

Just a few hours after announcing his exit from Bersatu, Muhammad Faiz Na’aman has expressed his readiness to join PKR.
The former Bersatu supreme council member said he is prepared to do so as he felt PKR’s principles are mostly in line with his.
“I am open to any offers and I have always respected the existence of PKR because the principles of their struggle do speak to me a lot.
“So I am open if PKR feels that they can see me as an asset and I also have an agenda that is more or less the same for the country in terms of fixing the economy and so on,” he told Malaysiakini.
Earlier today, Faiz (above) announced his resignation from the Bersatu supreme council and that he was leaving the party, citing irreconcilable differences.
He said his decision was made voluntarily, free from the influence of any other parties.
No tantrum
When asked if his decision to quit Bersatu was because he was not fielded as a candidate in the six state elections, Faiz said he was not throwing a tantrum.
He clarified that the decision was made after considering various factors.
“If you want to talk about not getting fielded, during the supreme council’s vetting process for the 14th general election, I was also not fielded. I didn’t throw a tantrum then.
“I have been not fielded before and I never sulked about it.
“This is a combination of various factors which led me to take such drastic action. It is not just about not becoming a candidate,” he added.
Since last week, Faiz has been publicly criticising the party’s choice of candidates for Selangor, which included several party leaders who were trounced during the parliamentary election last year.
Faiz had once contested under the Perikatan Nasional banner in the 15th general election for the Bagan Datuk parliamentary seat, where he faced a four-cornered fight against incumbent Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (BN), Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin (Pakatan Harapan) and Tawfiq Ismail (independent).
However, he lost the fight, trailing in third behind Zahid and Shamsul, with 8,822 votes. Zahid and Shamsul received 16,578 and 16,230 votes respectively.
With regard to his future in politics, Faiz said he will take a “wait and see” approach first and examine offers that come his way. - Mkini
