Fahmi Denies Shafie S Claim Of Rm8m Socmed Campaign Against Warisan

SABAH POLLS | Pakatan Harapan has denied claims that the coalition funded an RM8 million social media campaign to smear Warisan during the ongoing campaign trail.
PKR communications chief Fahmi Fadzil dismissed the reported allegation made by Warisan president Shafie Apdal, insisting the coalition has no such financial resources.
“I don’t know what he’s talking about. For Harapan, we don’t have such funds,” he told reporters after visiting the Sabah state election media centre in Penampang today.
Shafie, who is defending his Senallang state seat, previously accused his political rivals of misusing RM8 million in public funds to bankroll a racially charged online messaging campaign aimed at damaging Warisan’s reputation.
The Semporna MP also warned that such tactics could distract from Sabah’s actual development needs.
Meanwhile, Fahmi, who is also the communications minister, said three cases had so far been reported to the MCMC during the election period.
Shafie ApdalHowever, he noted that he was not provided with specifics.
“So far, there are three cases that have been reported. I was not given details of these cases, but two have been brought to the deputy public prosecutor for consideration of the next steps, while one more case is still under investigation.
“All three cases are related to dissemination during the election period.
“But I cannot disclose the content or details of these cases because they are still under investigation. One is under investigation, two are under the deputy public prosecutor’s consideration,” he said.
Fahmi also expressed concern over campaigning that touches on 3R issues - royalty, religion, and race.
“This is not allowed. Campaign healthily. Use arguments that are smart and sensible, and of course, we do not want actions that will damage harmony and unity in society,” he said.
He added that both the ministry and MCMC would act on any complaints involving the use of 3R narratives in campaigning. - Mkini
