Fadhlina Turns Down Rodziah S Call For Debate

According to Sinar Harian, Fadhlina said debating was not a priority at the moment as her main focus was on strengthening the party and supporting its president, Anwar Ibrahim.
“My answer is the same as Nurul Izzah (Anwar)’s: there’s no need for it. Right now, our focus is on strengthening the party.
“All the initiatives we’ve undertaken are aimed at strengthening the party and showing full support for our president,” she told a press conference following a campaign event in Seremban last night.
Last Friday, Rodziah, who is once again challenging Fadhlina for the post of Wanita PKR chief, invited the education minister to a debate on the future direction of the wing.
Rodziah said she was following in the footsteps of PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli, who had challenged Nurul Izzah to a debate just two days earlier.
Rafizi and Nurul Izzah are set to face off for the party’s number two post in the upcoming election for central leadership positions.
Nurul Izzah had also declined the debate invitation from Rafizi, saying her priority was to de-escalate tensions within the party and focus on engagement with delegates.
Fadhlina said debates could be constructive when used to discuss substantive policy issues.
“But in the current climate, our focus should be on unity and strengthening the party,” she said.
In March, Rodziah revealed that she was contesting the Wanita PKR chief post again, saying the wing had become “lethargic” under Fadhlina’s leadership, with “many areas that need improvement”.
The wing’s deputy chief, Juwairiya Zulkifli, dismissed Rodziah’s claim and said that leadership styles vary among individuals.
In the 2022 party polls, Fadhlina defeated Rodziah for the Wanita PKR chief post by just 32 votes, securing 18,923 votes to Rodziah’s 18,891. - FMT
