Clinical training in Malaysia is done mostly through programs such as Medical School and Internship. However, these programs are not exhaustive as they don’t teach the necessary skills for a clinician. Clinical training in Malaysia should be more comprehensive. The government should come up with new guidelines on how to best train medical students and interns to become clinician-ready for the workplace. It would be best if they could continue their medical career in the future with proper supervision from clinicians that have been working in the field for years and have undergone extensive clinical training themselves.
Clinical trials are considered to be the most advanced form of research. Almost every disease has a clinical trial running in Malaysia. This includes treatments for cancer, AIDS, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease. Malaysia is one of the leading countries when it comes to clinical trials in Southeast Asia. Extensive clinical  training in Malaysia program for medical students and interns who are aspiring to become clinical trial physicians. Malaysia is one of the countries in Southeast Asia that has a limited number of clinical trial sites. There are just four major clinical trial sites in Malaysia and the country is currently lacking in quality healthcare professionals.
More than half of students who are interested in becoming medical professionals end up going overseas for their internship at some point during their training. This trend stems from the lack of quality healthcare locations and an issue with funding for medical research and education. The University of Malaysia has recently collaborated with the Malaysian Association of Health Research to introduce a new program that will allow students from other universities in Malaysia to become part of this clinical trial training program without having twelve months of intensive training. Malaysia is the only country in Asia to offer an 8-year medical school education and a 3-year clinical training. Malaysia has the highest number of doctors per capita, approximately one doctor for every 5,000 people. This creates a huge demand for medical professionals, which is why medical schools are expanding rapidly. Since Malaysia has such high competition for jobs in the medical field, getting work experience as a student intern is very competitive too.
