(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: Former Putatan MP Marcus Mojigoh has quit Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), less than a year after joining the party led by Jeffrey Kitingan.
Mojigoh joined STAR in December last year after quitting Upko in January 2020. He used to be Upko’s treasurer-general.
He confirmed his exit to The Borneo Post, saying his letter of resignation as a STAR member was received by the party secretary-general last week.
Mojigoh told the Sabah daily that he was a political activist after leaving Upko but faced limitations in his work, prompting him to eventually join STAR.

However, even then, he said he felt restricted when it came to speaking out on issues relevant to Putatan folk due to the unstable political situation and in order to toe the party line.
“Because of that, and after thinking hard, I decided to leave STAR and operate as a political activist where I will continue voicing out Putatan affairs,” he told the Sabah daily.
A three-term Putatan MP from 2004 to 2018, Mojigoh lost to PKR’s Awang Husaini Sahari in the 14th general election (GE14).
Mojigoh denied that his departure was driven by any rift or misunderstanding with Jeffrey or other STAR leaders, saying he still had a good relationship with them.
He added that the country needed stability and prosperity right now and that he would support “any political platform” that could offer this. - FMT
