Ex Minister Ousted Due To Disciplinary Issues Says Pas Sec Gen
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan (right) said former minister Khairuddin Aman Razali’s removal from the PAS Central Committee had nothing to do with his views on PAS’ pact with Umno in Muafakat Nasional.PETALING JAYA: PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan has confirmed that disciplinary issues had led to former minister Khairuddin Aman Razali’s ouster from the party’s central committee.
He said it had nothing to do with Khairuddin’s views about the party’s alliance with Umno in Muafakat Nasional (MN).
“No one in PAS has ever been fired for holding a differing opinion,” he said, in response to speculation that Khairuddin was removed because he believed PAS should stand by Umno in the alliance.
Party president Abdul Hadi Awang had previously stated the party’s opposition to continuing with the alliance if Umno refused to accept Bersatu into MN.
When asked by FMT why he was dropped, Khairuddin simply replied, “read what is implied” and shared a Facebook post reminding leaders that it is obligatory to work for unity between PAS and Umno.
Takiyuddin said, however: “There has never been a case where differences of opinion caused a person to be dropped or fired, unless the action was against the party’s constitution because it was a disciplinary offence”, Berita Harian reported.
He said legal action could be taken against those speculating on Khairuddin’s ouster.
Khairuddin was a former minister for plantation industries and commodities in the Muhyiddin Yassin government from March 2020 to April 2021. He was appointed to the PAS central committee last year after he failed to secure enough votes at the party elections to gain a seat in the 18-member committee.
Takiyuddin said Hadi had the right to remove anyone from the committee if he felt the appointee could no longer carry out his responsibilities.
The appointment and removal of committee members was not a “veto power” vested in the president, but a decision made unanimously by central committee members, he said.
Earlier today, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Khairuddin’s removal was a “normal thing” and the matter was left to the party president to decide. - FMT
