Empowering Women Bersatu Should Learn From Dap Says Mas Ermieyati
Bersatu Women chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin today urged the party to emulate DAP when it comes to empowering women leaders.
In her policy speech at the Bersatu Women annual general meeting, she said DAP has provided opportunities to many women leaders and the Pakatan Harapan component party today has many female representatives in Parliament.
This is in stark contrast with Bersatu, she stressed, and pointed out that 25 percent of DAP MPs are women while Bersatu only has one out of 25.
“They are holding the record with 25 percent of their MPs being women. This is an excellent achievement.
ADS“How about us? I am the only female representative from Bersatu in Parliament... How sad,” said the Masjid Tanah MP to the wing delegates gathered at IDCC Convention Centre in Shah Alam, Selangor.

She said Perikatan Nasional, as the largest Malay-Muslim political coalition in Malaysia, should champion the participation of women in policy-making positions.
“We must prove that women are the backbone of this party and leaders who can carry the people’s voice in the Parliament and state legislative assemblies, and we can determine the party’s success,” she said.
Thus, Mas Ermieyati added, a platform must be set up to train and guide more women towards becoming good leaders.
This idea has been pitched to Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, she said. - Mkini
