Siti Nur Azizah Syafriadi did not react with shock and tears over losing her arm, but took it stoically and is ready to get back to work.PETALING JAYA: Siti Nur Azizah Syafriadi, 17, who lost her right arm after a robbery, is a real fighter.
Just two weeks after the harrowing incident, the young lass is eager to get back to work so she can help her mother raise her four siblings.
According to her brother, who declined to be named, Azizah was keen to get back to normal life and help her 38-year-old mother, Roslinawati Ya, take care of the family.
“Even while in pain, she was thinking about helping our mother do business, that’s the Azizah we know,” the brother told FMT.
He added that when Azizah was informed about what had happened to her arm, the eldest of five siblings did not show any sadness or surprise.
“She was very resilient, when Umi (Azizah’s mother) told her, she was not surprised and did not cry. She just accepted what had happened,” he said.
Azizah’s condition is improving and she has now returned home, and her brother said she had been buoyed by the endless encouragement from friends and family.
Earlier, FMT reported that Azizah’s right arm had to be amputated at the shoulder due to severe injuries and bleeding after she and her boyfriend were attacked and robbed.
On Aug 26 at around midnight, Azizah and her boyfriend were on a motorcycle heading home along Jalan Kuching after making food deliveries, when three men robbed them.
One of the men is understood to have kicked their motorcycle, causing them to lose control and slide into the road divider and causing her injuries.
According to her brother, Azizah had started making and selling food and making deliveries to help boost the family’s income after their father died.
Until now, there has been little headway in the robbery investigation, although sketches of the suspects have been distributed.
Sentul district police chief Beh Eng Lai has said his department was still actively tracking down and trying to identify the three suspects involved. - FMT
