Dennis Ignatius Looking At Things With Blinkers On
But then Mahathir split the Malays in 1969, in 1987, in 1998, in 2006, and again in 2015. Five times in about 50 years Mahathir split the Malays. And he is still trying to split the Malays until today.

Dennis Ignatius’s article — Muhyiddin Cannot Avoid A No-Confidence Motion Once Parliament Resumes — is quite flawed (READ HERE). That is what happens when you look at things with blinkers on.
Dennis Ignatius: Against the backdrop of increasing political instability…
What political instability? There is no political instability. It is all in the mind. Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is sitting pretty and no one can dislodge him. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is trying. Anwar Ibrahim is trying. Some in Umno are also trying. But it is like what the Malays would label: a dog barking at a mountain.
Dennis Ignatius: The real issue, therefore, is who will replace Muhyiddin as prime minister should he lose a vote of confidence in Parliament.
I have already answered that in this article: The planned November vote of no confidence against Muhyiddin (READ HERE).
If Umno, PKR, Pejuang, DAP, PAS, PPBM, PAN, Warisan, and the parties from Sabah and Sarawak, unite and mutually agree on who should be PM9, then maybe, and I repeat maybe, they can dislodge Muhyiddin. But when they want Mahathir, Anwar, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, Najib Tun Razak, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Shafie Apdal, Mukhriz Mahathir, and Tok Mat to become PM9, then it is a non-starter. They are going to be shot down even as they are taxiing on the runaway and are yet to take off.
All Muhyiddin has to do is to divide and rule. Let the eight contenders for PM9 go for each other’s throats. Muhyiddin just needs to sit back and relax and sip his cup of tea.
So, who is going to be the anti-Muhyiddin team’s candidate for PM9? Mahathir, Anwar, Tengku Razaleigh, Najib, Zahid, Shafie, Mukhriz, or Tok Mat? Settle that matter first then go see Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong again. By then it will be 2023 and time for GE15 anyway.
The reason Russia managed to invade Afghanistan was because the Afghans were fighting each other. But when the Afghans united, even the very powerful Russian army was defeated and sent back to Moscow with their tails between their legs.
Malays will fight. They will always fight. They will never stop fighting. And that is because Malays are fighters by nature. But Malays will stop short of menang sorak, kampung tergadai.
But then Mahathir split the Malays in 1969, in 1987, in 1998, in 2006, and again in 2015. Five times in about 50 years Mahathir split the Malays. And he is still trying to split the Malays until today.
But that is because Mahathir is not Malay. And he is recalcitrant.
He fights with the Raja-Raja Melayu. He fights with the Chinese (in 1969). He fights with Singapore (his entire life). He fights with every deputy he appoints. He fights with every Prime Minister who succeeds him. He fights with China. He fights with Australia. He fights with the US. He fights with the UK.
Sigh…it would be easier if I go through the list of who Mahathir does not fight with.
And Anwar is not Malay as well. He shares the same blood as Mahathir. So, Anwar also splits the Malays and will work with the Jews, the US, the Chinese, the Arabs… in fact, with anyone under the sun in his effort to split the Malays, mainly so that he can become Malaysia’s Prime Minister.
So, what political instability, Dennis Ignatius? There is no instability. It is all in your mind.
Maybe Umno, PPBM, PKR, Pejuang, PAS, DAP, PAN, Warisan, etc. are fighting. But those are just politicians. Rakyat jelata want peace. Rakyat jelata want stability. Rakyat jelata want a strong economy. Rakyat jelata want money in their pockets and food on their table. And rakyat jelata feel if you leave Muhyiddin alone and don’t disturb him and don’t try to topple him, Muhyiddin can focus on looking after the interests of the rakyat.
The politicians must be naïve if they think the rakyat are concerned about who is going to be PM9 — whether Mahathir, Anwar, Tengku Razaleigh, Najib, Zahid, Shafie, Mukhriz, or Tok Mat? The rakyat are happy with Muhyiddin as long as Muhyiddin can solve the problem of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic and take care of the economy.
People like Dennis Ignatius and orang-orang yang sewaktu dengannya need to leave their bedrooms and go into the kampung in Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang, Kedah, Johor, Sabah, Sarawak, etc. and speak to the rakyat. Ask them what’s in their minds. Then go back to your bedroom and write a new article.
