Datuk Seri Surrenders To Cops To Help Investigations Into Nightclub Riot
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Liow Soon Hee has surrendered to police here Friday (May 17) to help with investigations into rioting at an entertainment outlet in Jalan Klang Lama
Liow is the same Datuk Seri who was charged with three counts of causing grievous hurt to two Rela volunteers in 2017
City Deputy CID chief Asst Comm Alzafny Ahmad (pic) said Liow surrendered at the Brickfields police headquarters at around 3pm Friday
"We took his statement and interrogated him before releasing him on bail.
"This brings the total number of arrests in connection with the case to 15. We are still tracking down several other witnesses and suspects connected to the case," he said when contacted on Sunday (May 19).
It was reported that on May 3, a group of men armed with sticks went to the outlet at about 9.20pm and damaged equipment and furniture.Investigations revealed that jealousy was believed to be the motive behind the attack
Some of the suspects interrogated by police said a prior fight had occurred in a pub in Cheras before the attack
City police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim had said that police were looking for four suspects in connection with the case. One of the suspects was Liow
ACP Alzafny said a bodyguard, who was one of the four sought by police, has also surrendered to police
"We are now waiting for another person of interest linked to this case to come back from overseas, and he is expected to surrender once he is back," he said.- Star
