Dap Psm Leaders Pour Scorn On Wan Saiful S Attack On Leftist Policies

DAP's P Ramasamy and PSM's S Arutchelvan have come out to pour scorn on Bersatu's Wan Saiful Wan Jan, who said that Pakatan Harapan comprised “leftist” parties based on socialism and was thus incompatible with Malaysia's development.
"Bersatu, an offshoot of the racist Umno, now wants to claim itself as a centrist party with religious credentials, whereas even Umno would want to call them a bunch of traitors.
"It was Bersatu that undermined the legitimate government of Harapan through the Sheraton Move and Wan Saiful (above) is hardly knowledgeable in separating the different strands of ideology," Ramasamy told Malaysiakini.
He said Bersatu is an opportunist party that will sell to the highest bidder.
ADS"PKR is not a socialist party, but a party that professes a certain degree of the subaltern category (appealing to the working classes and the marginalised).
"DAP is based on the idea of democratic socialism, which essentially means egalitarianism, social justice, equality and the reduction of the income gap, but it is definitely opposed to revolutionary socialism," added the Penang deputy chief minister II.

Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan, a former researcher and former head of think tank Ideas, had told a Lembah Pantai Bersatu briefing on Saturday that leftist characteristics are clearly exhibited by DAP and PKR.
“Until this day, DAP’s cadres must go through DAP Socialist Youth.
“The leftist agenda brought by them is not suitable for our country founded by Tunku Abdul Rahman’s principles of freedom and justice,” said Wan Saiful, who praised his own party as one that professes socio-political conservatism based on religion and the culture of being easterners.
Arutchelvan was equally unimpressed with Wan Saiful’s analysis, saying the Bersatu leader was using Cold War rhetoric and (former US president Donald) Trump-like rhetoric.

"Everything good that is enjoyed by the people stems from policies left behind by the left wing," Arutchelvan said.
"Wan Saiful is trying to give a Trump logic here and goes on to label people as Left, Socialist, etc. This is just cold war rhetoric repeated by the former prime minister (Dr) Mahathir (Mohamad) and PAS leaders in recent times to defame those who defend public-centric ideas," he added.  - Mkini
