Crab Robot Ready Exploring The Underwater World
Crabster CR200
SEOUL - Researchers from the Korean Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) created a six-legged robot that can walk and explore under the sea in a very bad condition though. Robot shaped such as this crab angle being said will exploring corner of the ocean that never before explored by previous robots. Robot named Crabster CR200 has six legs with joints that not more than thirty connection.
Crabster CR200 can survive on the seabed for several days. The robot crab have an external power source above the surface of the water and is operated by four people who were in the room on the ship. Crabster is also equipped with high-resolution scanner, high-tech cameras, profiler, and a few other conventional cameras. Crabster CR200 itself can move with a speed of 1.5 meters per second.
The mission from this crab robot is to find carcasses of buried shipwreck. According to Ong-Huan Jun, the head of the research team KIOST, Crabster CR200 is still in the testing phase. Tim is still doing testing whether robotic body resistant to water pressure.
So far the testing to a depth of several meters is already consistent with those expected. Although the actual Crabster designed to explore to 200 meters below sea surface. CR200 Crabster real mission will be implemented in 2014.
Two of the six-foot-owned Crabster will later can be used as a hand to dig up or take something on the object underwater. At Crabster body also has storage space to bring the desired object rises to the surface.
