COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 1,054 new Covid-19 cases and a record-setting 12 deaths in a 24-hour period ending noon today.
Leading indicators in brief:
Active cases = 10,135 ↑ (167 more than previous day)
Patients in intensive care = 94 ↑ (3 more than previous day)
Intubated patients = 32 (unchanged)
Deaths = 12
The Health Ministry said all the 12 deaths were reported in Sabah, bringing the cumulative death toll for Sabah to 131.
This meant that the death toll for Sabah now accounted for half (49.8 percent) of all deaths in the country that was attributed to Covid-19.
The reported deaths ranged from as young as 14 and as old as 82 with the median age being 59.5. Four of the victims were foreigners.




Of the 1,054 new cases, 14 cases were imported. Of the remaining local transmitted cases, seven cases involved recent travel to Sabah. The cumulative cases related to travel to Sabah has reached 478.

Sabah continued to report the highest number of new cases (64.3 percent) followed by the Klang Valley regions (14.2 percent) and Labuan (7.7 percent).

A breakdown of the new locally transmitted cases are as follows:

Two new clusters were classified by the Health Ministry today. The Cergas cluster involved the Seremban district in Negeri Sembilan. The index case reported symptoms on Oct 29 and 12 cases have been assigned to this cluster so far.
The Permatang cluster involved the Kulim district in Kedah and three districts on the Penang mainland.

The index case suffered from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection and was warded at a private hospital before being transferred to an intensive care unit in Penang Hospital. So far, eight cases have been assigned to this cluster. - Mkini
