Cops Warn Against Sharing Covid 19 Vaccine Fake News

PETALING JAYA: The police are prepared to take action against anyone who spreads fake news on the Covid-19 vaccine or discourages people from taking the vaccine, Bernama reported.
Deputy inspector-general of police (IGP) Acryl Sani said an investigation paper would be opened if there was any report lodged on the issue.
“So far no police report has been received and the police wish to advise the public not to make any statement that could confuse or cause concern to the community,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the case would be investigated under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1988.
Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code refers to statements that lead to public alarm and distress while Section 233 of CMA 1998 refers to improper use of network facilities or network service.

Earlier today, Bernama reported that after watching television coverage of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin receiving his first Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine shot yesterday, some social media users had alleged that the prime minister might have been given another type of liquid as the colour of the needles changed from blue to orange during the vaccination process.
As a result, the health ministry clarified that different needles serve different purposes in the vaccination process.
It said that when withdrawing fluid from the vial containing the Covid-19 vaccine, a bigger needle, which is blue in colour, is needed to ensure smooth extraction.
“The needle colour signifies bore size, with the blue one used to aspirate liquid from the vial while the smaller bore-size needle (red or orange) is used for inoculation to ensure less pain and bruising,” the health ministry said in a statement today.
