Cops Received Analysis Of Video Implicating Azmin To Issue Statement Soon

Police today confirmed that they have received the analysis by foreign experts of a sex video implicating Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali
With the analysis report, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed (above) said police have submitted their investigation papers to the Attorney-General's Chambers
Huzir did not reveal the outcome of the analysis but said a joint statement on the matter will be issued in the near future
"We have received the report at the end of last year and the investigation papers have been submitted to the attorney-general

"The attorney-general's side, together with the police, will be making a joint statement in the near future," he told journalists at the Bukit Aman police headquarters this afternoon
Last November, Huzir had said the video was sent to a digital forensic expert at a US university to help determine its authenticity and identify the persons in the sex video. Former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz (photo), who admitted he was the person in the video, had implicated Azmin as his partner
Azmin had denied the allegation and claimed it was an attempt to destroy his political career
The video, released by anonymous phone numbers through Whatsapp in June last year, showed two men engaging in sexual acts, purportedly at a hotel in Sandakan
In July, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador had said an analysis by Cybersecurity Malaysia established that the video was "authentic" but cannot be "100 percent" certain on the identities of those in the video
Supporters of Azmin (below), who is in a feud with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, had alluded that the latter's allies were involved in creating the sex video
In December, Anwar was also accused of sexual misconduct by his former research officer Muhammad Yusoff Rawther
He alleged the incident happened in October. Anwar had denied wrongdoing
Asked about this case, Huzir said police will be meeting the attorney-general this evening to update on the case
He added that during the scheduled meeting today, Azmin's case, as well as the case of former special action unit commando Azilah Hadri implicating former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak in Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu's murder, will also be discussed
