Cops Probing 3 Reports Allegedly Prepared By Own Personnel Lawyer

Lawyer N Surendran said authorities are investigating allegations that disabled e-hailing driver Ong Ing Keong had inked three other reports prepared by the police in relation to his alleged assault by Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim’s escort.
This was on top of Ong’s first report which he had lodged after the incident on May 28.
“They (police) are looking into it,” said Surendran (above), who accompanied Ong to the Brickfields district police headquarters to have his statement recorded this afternoon.
The former MP said this when asked whether police probing the alleged assault are also investigating allegations made against their own personnel.
Also present were Lawyers for Liberty adviser Latheefa Koya, Malaysian Deaf Advocacy and Wellbeing Organisation (Dawn) secretary-general Anthony Chong, the victim’s friend Phong Chang Kim and a sign-language interpreter.
They earlier entered the police station with Ong close to noon before exiting about three hours later.
Elaborating on today’s event, the interpreter, who declined to be named, said the police questioned Ong for almost two hours.
Later, they spent another 40 minutes recording a statement from Phong, also known as Phillip.
Phong told reporters that he had assisted Ong via video call to file the first police report and claimed he saw the latter’s bruised face back then.
"He (Ong) was holding (his face) and kept telling me that it was painful," he said while demonstrating how Ong had covered his face.
Further, Phong said he helped Ong with the first police report because the latter had difficulties writing in Bahasa Malaysia.
"I helped to write the words (in the report) because I'm very good at Bahasa (Malaysia) and so whatever I wrote, I sent to him (Ong) via WhatsApp and he showed the police officer," he added.
Earlier today, Malaysiakini reported that Ong had only provided input for the first police report, while police had allegedly prepared the second and third reports lodged later the same day, with the fourth report lodged on May 29.
‘Probe 80pct complete’
Meanwhile, Surendran told reporters that police have completed "roughly" 80 percent of the investigation.
"They (police) said they will complete the investigation as soon as possible, possibly by next week," he said.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin HusainPrior to Ong's first press conference with LFL yesterday, Tunku Ismail posted a statement on X saying he does not condone illegal actions or acts of intimidation.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain also said Bukit Aman would summon all officers involved in investigating the case. - Mkini
