Claims Made In Viral Message Including Azmin As Dpm Are False Says Ppbm
Hamzah Zainudin said PPBM will use all legal avenues available to safeguard the interests of the party and its members.PETALING JAYA: PPBM has vehemently denied all claims in a viral message which outlined purported decisions at its Supreme Council meeting on Thursday, including one that says it has decided to appoint Azmin Ali as the deputy prime minister in preparation for a general election in July.
PPBM secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said all the eight items listed as decisions from the meeting were false and had nothing to do with any meeting of the party in the past.
“PPBM will lodge a police report against the spreading of this false news and trace the source.
“We will not hesitate to use all legal avenues available to safeguard the interests of the party and its members,” the home minister said in a statement today.
Other than the Azmin claim, the message, purportedly addressed to all PPBM division heads, urged members to get ready for the next general election (GE15), which it said was expected to be held in July.
It also claimed that Hamzah had asked PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan to get his party to be the mediator between PPBM and Umno to resolve several differences between them.
On another claim, it said Azmin had informed the Supreme Council that eight more elected representatives were expected to cross over to Perikatan Nasional, adding that the attorney-general had agreed to probe several opposition members to coerce them into supporting the prime minister.
Meanwhile, PPBM Supreme Council member Muhammad Faiz Naaman said the party had not discussed any matter related to GE15 so far.
“We have not discussed any of the claims made in the viral message.
“We only discussed matters pertaining to strengthening the party, improving ties among component members and preparing the economy to face post-Covid-19 challenges,” he said. - FMT
