Christmas With Tears In 2024

Our guest writer today is La Salle Br Anthony Rogers, who wrote the following reflection for Christmas:
We cannot sing Joy to the World without tears in our eyes.
The Prince of Peace, the Lord of Life, was born in the Holy Land, but today, it is the graveyard of Death and horror of Sorrows.
The proclamation “Glory to God in the highest and peace among all people of goodwill” is now a sham to all who dare to call God’s name but walk away in silence from glaring evils, oblivious to the travesty of the cruelty of armed violence and aggressive greed.
Our children are our future, and the birth of Jesus is the only sign of hope for a depraved humanity devoid of the love of a God of mercy.
Let 2025 be the sacred year to work for Peace with Justice and Justice with Forgiveness. The unity of God’s people in the Holy Land is the only place for a new world order, moving from a “globalisation of indifference” to “universal solidarity.”
Allow the tears in our eyes as we come face to face with the infant Jesus to move our hearts, to turn cries of sorrows and pain into whispers of compassion with justice for peace.
We believe as pilgrims of hope that 2025 will be a Year of Jubilee in the Holy Land. Grow in awareness, share your hope in humanity.
