Chicken Factory Among 3 Premises Closed After Covid 19 Cases
The Covid-19 spread from a worker at a chicken factory in Pedas, Negeri Sembilan, and 60 people have been tested positive so far.PUTRAJAYA: Three premises have so far been closed after workers there tested positive for Covid-19
This included a chicken factory in Negeri Sembilan, said Senior Minister (Security) Ismail Sabri Yaakob
The factory, believed to be in Pedas, Negri Sembilan, has recorded 60 confirmed cases to date
Ismail said another was a supermarket where the security guards were found to be infected and a construction site in Ampang
“I have stated before that if there are any confirmed cases, the premises will be shut down for medical checks and sanitisation,” he added
On May 2, the health ministry detected a cluster involving workers from the factory in Pedas after a factory worker was found with fever, cough, flu, shortness of breath and headache on April 5
The ministry then initiated a probe and close contact tracing. A total of 789 people, who had close contact with the factory worker, and their family members were screened for Covid-19
Out of that, 60 of them eventually tested positive for Covid-19, while test results for 286 others were negative
Ismail was further asked on a cluster dubbed as” Kluster Kayangan” (airheads) for overseas returnees, who have been reported to have been “misusing” hotel rooms in Sarawak where they are under two weeks’ quarantine
He said the hotel management had the right to take action against these guests
“I hear some of them have damaged the items and bedsheets in their rooms,” he added
Decision on Friday prayers not finalisedAsked on Friday prayers at mosques, Ismail said the matter would be referred to the National Security Council as it involves religion and it needs further discussion
As soon as a decision is made by the NSC, the Cabinet will make a decision and an announcement will be made
Ismail said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri had put forward his views earlier today
Yesterday, Perlis, which is under the Covid-19 green zone, had allowed Friday prayers from May 15 onwards but these only involve the mosque committee members, with only three to 12 members, and strict social distancing being maintained
SOP for nurseriesAs for nurseries reopening under the CMCO, Ismail said they are allowed to reopen as both the parents need to go back to work
“These parents don’t have any place to send their children. That is why nurseries have to be reopened.”But to ensure safety and social distancing, the relevant ministries are setting standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure rules are followed, he said. - FMT
