Changes To Sabah Pkr Leadership Despite Boycott
Sabah PKR has announced some changes in its leadership line-up after a meeting in preparation for the 15th general election (GE15).
This is despite a boycott of the meeting by 16 division leaders in protest of Sabah PKR chief Christina Liew’s leadership.
“We hope that those who are dissatisfied with the internal management of the party and of the leadership will use the right channels in voicing their protests and avoid using the media openly.
“The state leadership meeting also decided that the party leadership should be big-hearted by opening a room for discussion in finding solutions in the interest of the party,” said Sabah PKR secretary Mustapha Sakmud in a statement today.
He noted that those who boycotted the meeting are also disrespecting PKR president Anwar Ibrahim who had already consulted with all the division chiefs in a previous state leadership meeting last September.
At the time, Anwar had already advised for Liew to be retained as the state chief until the incoming party election in order to better focus on preparing for GE15.
Sabah PKR divisional chiefs’ secretariat chairperson Simsudin Sidek yesterday said he and 15 others decided to boycott the meeting in protest of Liew’s leadership.
He also claimed he received information that the hybrid meeting went on despite not meeting the quorum.
Describing this issue as one that has been ongoing for the past four years, Simsudin urged Anwar to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
However, Mustapha today claimed the meeting did achieve the quorum in accordance with the party’s constitution.
He said those who boycotted the meeting were not interested in negotiations.
As such, the changes to the leadership were agreed to by the majority of those who attended the meeting.
According to Mustapha, the new leadership changes are as follows:
Deputy chairperson: Husaini Sahari
Vice-chairperson 1: Peto Galim
Vice-chairperson 2: John OT Ghani
Vice-chairperson 3: Abdul Razak Jamil
Secretary: Mustapha Sakmud
Organising secretary: Remysta Taylor
Deputy information chief: Thonny Chee
Disciplinary bureau chairperson: Dikin Musa
