Facebook pixel is an analytics/tracking tool (similar to Google Analytics) that can be created using the Facebook Ads Manager to use on a website/blog.
Facebook pixel helps to track visitors of a website & their activities efficiently. It gives the analytics report to understand better the parameters like daily traffic, traffic source, and time spent on the website, etc.
Most importantly, with Facebook pixel bloggers can create a custom audience, lookalike audience, and retarget the visitors (from past 180 days) using Facebook ads.

However, for the Blogger platform, you need to install the pixel code manually, which I will show you in this guide.
Whenever you try to install Facebook pixel on the Blogger platform, there is bound to be an error that stop users from proceding further. In this guide, I have also provided a solutions to this error.
Step 1: Visit Events ManagerGo to your ads manager or business manager account. And click on three lines option at the top left corner that expands the tools option for you. Now click on the “All Tools” button as shown in the below screenshot. Here you will find “Pixels” option under “Events Manager” section. Click on Pixels button.
Step 2: Creating a PixelAssuming you have not created any pixels previously, below is how the screen looks to you. Directly click on “Create a Pixel” button in green colour at the bottom.
If you have already created a pixel & if you wish to create a new pixel now, then you don’t get the green color button at the bottom.
Instead, you need to click on “Add New Data Source” button available at left side column in blue color & choose “Facebook Pixel” button from available options.
Step 3: Naming the PixelNow you will be asked to name your new pixel & enter the URL of the website where you intend to install this pixel. The URL option here is optional & it won’t affect your pixel even if you give a different website URL here.
After giving a name to your pixel & entering website URL, click on Create button.
Now your pixel is created & you need to install it on your blog to start tracking events.
Please note that you can create just one pixel under an ad account if you are using “Ads Manager” & not “Business Manager”. You need to connect your ad account to Business Manager, which allows you to add up to 100 pixels in an ad account.
Step 4: Manually Installing the Facebook PixelYou can install FB pixel on a blog/website by using readily available exclusive plugins for platforms such as WordPress, WooCommerce, etc.
For the ‘Blogger’ platform, you need to manually install the pixel code by choosing the second option as shown in below screenshot.
If you are not comfortable in editing the HTML, you can simply send the pixel code to your site developer by entering his/her email ID after choosing the 3rd option as shown in the above screenshot.
I have chosen the 2nd option, i.e., “Manually Install Pixel Code Yourself” to continue the next steps of this guide.
Step 5: Locating the Header in BloggerOnce you select the second option in the previous step, this is the screen you see.
Now you need to login to your Blogger account and find the <head> tag in the HTML of the theme that you are using.
As shown in the below screenshot, you will find the “Edit HTML” option under the ‘Theme’ section in the left-side column of the Blogger dashboard.
Just click on the ‘Edit HTML’ button.
And this is how the HTML code screen looks to you.
Keep the mouse cursor anywhere in the HTML code area and search (Ctrl+F) for </head> tag.
You will find it somewhere near the end of HTML code as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 6: Pasting the Pixel Code in Header SectionIf you go back to the Facebook pixel installation tab, you have an option to copy the entire pixel code, which needs to be pasted in the header section. You just need to copy the entire pixel code.
Now head back to the blogger tab and paste the copied pixel code just above the </head> tag.
After pasting the code, click on the “Save Theme” button available at the top left of the screen.
Now head back to the Facebook’s pixel installation tab and turn on ‘automatic advanced matching’ toggle. This helps Facebook to track your visitors with more accurate information like email IDs, phone numbers, etc.
This completes the installation of Facebook Pixel on the ‘Blogger’ platform.
Step 7: Solving the Error in HTMLWhile saving the HTML code of the pixel under <head> section, you will get an error as shown in the below screenshot:
Since I don’t know much about HTML and XML, I was not able to fix this issue & took the help of my cousin, a software engineer, who helped me to fix this error.
He explained to me the reason behind the error is using “&” (ampersand) in the HTML code. He suggested to add “amp;” (letter ‘amp’ followed by a semicolon) immediately after “&” in the line 2969.
The error was solved after adding amp; & saving the HTML code.
This error is one of the major reasons that was stopping the Blogger platform users from using the pixel. Now it is solved & you can enjoy the benefits of the Facebook pixel even on the Blogger platform
Step 8: Verifying the Pixel InstallationAfter completing the above steps & solving the error, you can check if the pixel is installed correctly on the blog.
Here you can enter the URL of your blog & click on “Send Test Traffic”. This will open your site in a new tab & if everything is perfect, you would see “Active” status. Just click on continue & you are all done installing the Facebook pixel on your site.
