The car driver was said to be unhappy with the motorcyclist for honking and shouting at him after he made an illegal u-turn.
Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit said the driver, 28, had nearly caused an accident, but the motorcyclist managed to avoid the car, a Perodua Myvi.
He said the car driver ordered the motorcyclist to stop by the side of the road in front of the Melaka Mall.
When the motorcyclist walked up, the driver started scolding him as he got out of the car. He grabbed the motorcyclist’s neck from behind and aimed an air pistol to the motorcyclist’s head.
A struggle then ensued before the 24-year-old victim managed to snatch the pistol away. The driver tried to flee in his vehicle but was caught by members of the public and the victim.
Patit said the suspect had a history of drug offences and had been on probation since November 2021. He was required to report to a police station once a month but no curfew was imposed on him.
“An air pistol and six bullets were confiscated, along with a transparent packaging containing green plastic beads for further investigation,” he said.
The suspect has been remanded for six days. - FMT
