Can Azmin S Deputy Afford Part Time Job In Malacca Pkr
MALACCA POLLS | Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Lim Ban Hong may be leveraging on his federal position to pitch to Kelebang voters of the many benefits he can bring to the constituency but his rival PKR is trying to turn that against him.
Zooming in on the International Trade and Industry Ministry's performance which the party claimed to be subpar, particularly in its hasty reopening of factories that allowed Covid-19 to spread, PKR argued that Lim already has more than he is cut out for.
The Malacca MCA chief is attempting to wrest back the seat of Kelebang which he lost to PKR's Gue Teck in 2018. Perikatan Nasional (PN) has also joined the fray with PAS' Bakri Jamaluddin.
PKR treasurer Lee Chean Chung at a press conference with Gue Teck today, pointed out the awkward position Lim is in.
Lim is representing BN but his boss, International Trade and Industry Minister Azmin Ali, is from PN which means the coalitions will be campaigning against each other.
"In Putrajaya, PN and BN are cooperating in the government but in Malacca, they are contesting against each other in all 28 seats," Lee said.
He also questioned the International Trade and Industry Ministry's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"There were many Covid-19 clusters in factories. Foreign direct investment has plummeted and the standard operating procedures for businesses have been confusing.
"Despite this, Lim now wants to take up a part-time job by contesting in a state seat," Lee said.

Lim is also a senator in the Dewan Negara.
Lee called on Lim to go on leave to ensure that he does not abuse federal government machinery for the campaign.
PKR members also held up placards on the matter at the press conference.
MCA has pushed back against PKR's line of attack, accusing the opposition of underhanded tactics to undermine Lim.
