Camaraderie Thinaah Gives Injured Tan A Lift After All England Victory
The camaraderie shared by Malaysia’s women’s doubles partners, M Thinaah and Pearly Tan shone after the former gave her injured partner a piggy-back ride following their win in the second round of the All-England tournament.
Thinaah’s spontaneous gesture to her partner went viral on social media, with badminton enthusiasts lauding the duo for their strong bond.
During the games, Tan suffered an ankle injury when competing against the Indonesian pair of Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.
She was said to have landed awkwardly after returning a shot, twisting her ankle in the process, prompting Thinaah to seek medical help.
Although in pain, Tan continued with the match and emerged victorious, scoring 21-16, 21-14, at the Utilita Birmingham Arena.
Soon after the game ended, Thinaah carried Tan back to the dressing room.
‘The least I could do’
According to The Star, Thinaah said she offered to carry Tan as she did not want the latter to strain her leg further.
"She just didn’t want to put more strain on her leg. I offered to carry her, and that was the least I could do to help.
"I have admired her ever since we started partnering. I know she is not one who easily gives up.
“So when she fell, it was not in her mind to (give a) walkover or anything. I knew she wanted to stay on the court and fight until the last point," said Thinaah. - Mkini
