Cabinet Ministers To Attend Retreat Tomorrow Fahmi
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will hold a retreat with his cabinet ministers tomorrow.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the retreat, to be at an undisclosed location, is to discuss the direction of the government and set key performance indicators (KPI) for each ministry.
“The retreat is timely because, in the course of the last few months, the ministers have familiarised themselves with their ministries.
“By now, they would have an understanding of the organisation and functions and this is important in charting the direction of the (federal) government,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after presenting New Year contributions to the Chinese community in the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency in Kuala Lumpur today.
Earlier, Anwar reportedly said a special retreat will be held for cabinet ministers to set KPIs for each ministry and get input on their performance after about a month’s work.
Meanwhile, Fahmi (above), who is also Pakatan Harapan’s communications director, said the coalition is prioritising drafting policies with other parties in the government and gearing up for the upcoming six state elections.
He said the cooperation agreement between coalitions under the federal government will set the tone for relations between parties at the state level.
“We have already formed (coalition governments with BN) in Perak and Pahang, but have yet to do so in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, and Malacca.
“I am confident this rhythm at the federal level will be continued at the state level,” he said.
However, he said the decision on political cooperation at the state level will be decided by the Harapan presidential council.
On the strategy for the upcoming state polls, Fahmi said different approaches will be taken for states under the Harapan-BN governments and those under the federal opposition.
The state elections to be held this year will involve Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
