Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman today fulfilled a “promise” to gift Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim with two baju Melayu from a local brand which he has been promoting, both offline and online on social media.
On Instagram, Syed Saddiq shared his encounter with Anwar at the Parliament lobby earlier today, also tagging local singer Bella Astillah, who partnered with him in many of the brand’s promotional campaigns.
“One is your favourite colour, which is PKR’s colour. The other is pink,” said Syed Saddiq, who was caught off guard as Anwar quipped, “But Bella should be next to you”.
“Jangan kacau Datuk Seri, itu saya punya (she’s mine). Kasi chance (give us a chance) lah Datuk Seri,” Syed Saddiq jibed in response, as Anwar laughed and tapped his shoulder.
Syed Saddiq and Bella Astillah did not only appear together on various promotional campaigns, but also regularly appeared live on each other’s social media, each time with thousand of viewers who fueled speculations on their growing relationship.
“I’m just joking,” said Anwar, as Syed Saddiq handed over the two sets of baju Melayu to one of his officers.
Syed Saddiq’s promise to gift Anwar was made in the Dewan Rakyat last week, when Anwar while responding to his question, teased him about not wearing a baju Melayu.
The duo’s banter today appear to continue with Anwar asking Syed Saddiq if the latter is “ready” and whether “any dates have been set”.
“Kita doakan saja lah Datuk Seri (just pray for it). If anything, you’ll be among the first to know,” said Syed Saddiq, and Anwar responded, “So not yet?”
Syed Saddiq hid his response using an audio clip, but hinted he would be “scolded” if it ended up being reported by the media. - Mkini
