Businessman Gives Evidence To Macc On Claims Pn Getting Funds From Gambling Companies
- NSTP file picPUTRAJAYA: A businessman lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) seeking a deeper probe into claims that Perikatan Nasional (PN) had received funds from gambling companies.
Mohd Rashdan Mohd Yusof of Klang, who claimed he was making the report on his own and not affiliated to any political parties, believed that the evidence he would furnish to the MACC could help in the course of investigations.
"It is about PN receiving funds from gambling companies when the coalition ruled the government.
"I have proof and information from a very trusted and reliable source, who is not from any political party. All these will be backed with the relevant documents.
"I will channel all I know to the MACC and I hope it will help them in the investigations," said Rashdan, who declined to reveal further details of his report as it was "confidential".
Rashdan arrived at the MACC headquarters here, at about 9.30am and spent over three hours with investigators.
Asked if his report was linked to PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Rashdan said his report was not about a certain person.
Meanwhile, a MACC source confirmed that investigators had recorded Rashdan's statement.
On Friday, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Legal and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said denied that MACC had stopped its investigations into claims that PN received funds gambling companies.
She said the response she provided in the Dewan Rakyat on behalf of MACC did not indicate that any investigation related to the allegations had been terminated or dropped.
Azalina instead said MACC had only stated that no investigation papers were opened due to the general nature of the information obtained.- NST
