Bung Take Handouts And Ask For Money But Don T Vote For Warisan
KIMANIS POLLS | BN has urged voters to accept cash handouts from rival party Warisan but not ro vote for the party’s candidate in the coming by-election
At a ceramah last night, Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin even egged voters to ask for money from the state government
“I hear they (Warisan) want to give money, so take it
“What they want to give, just take it. If they don’t give, ask for it. Just take it as they are the ruling government
“This is the time we want to change it back. This is the time to get rid of a cruel government. We want to teach Warisan a lesson, starting in Kimanis,” he said while canvassing for BN candidate Mohamad Alamin
Bung elaborated that Warisan’s financial might was no match for the rakyat’s anger at them
“They should not forget that if people want to reject Warisan, money will not be able to stop it
“I am sad because they were once from BN and were given positions by BN. But they (left BN), saying there was no development here
“(They campaigned) that Sabah is for Sabahans but that doesn’t matter. Later, it became a home for Orang Malaya (people from Peninsular Malaysia) as well. After GE14, they (Warisan) joined forces with DAP and PKR,” Bung said
Yesterday, Warisan president and Sabah Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal (above) was accused of bribing voters with cash after an image of him handing out RM50 notes was spread on social media
Shafie later clarified that the image was of him handing out alms to the poor at a mosque in Sandakan, not to Kimanis voters
Sandakan and Kimanis are different parliamentary constituencies
'My bribery trial won’t affect BN'Bung, who is at present on trial for bribery and corruption, said that his own court woes would not hamper BN’s campaign in Kimanis
Using a pantun (poem), the former Felcra chairperson said he believed that Sabahans would assess the situation and not let it affect their decision at the ballot box
“I am not worried because I am now used to it. I have calmed down and am determined because I know that God will not frustrate those who are not guilty, God willing,” he said
Earlier, before his speech, Bung broadcasted a speech by Shafie when the latter was still with Umno. The speech was played from his mobile phone and amplified using a hailer
Bung referenced how Shafie had called Umno the defender of both the Malays and Malaysians, especially in the fight for independence from the British
The Kinabatangan MP added that former Kimanis MP Anifah Aman, as well as other opposition parties like PAS, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star), were now campaigning for BN
Also present last night was Umno Supreme Council member Md Alwi Che Ahmad
Warisan is again fielding its GE14 Kimanis candidate Karim Bujang against BN’s Mohamad
The seat fell vacant after Anifah’s GE14 win was nullified when the Kota Kinabalu Election Court ruled that the presence of additional ballot papers had influenced the election result. - Mkini
