Boss Of Alleged Tamil Drug Lord Is Malaysian Claims Indian Media

A senior Indian investigative journalist has claimed that the “boss” of an alleged drug kingpin in India is a Malaysian.
The journalist, who is a former police officer, was commenting on the case of a politician and Tamil film producer Jaffer Sadiq - who was linked to a RM1.13 billion drug bust by India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
According to journalist A Shankar, he claimed that the alleged Malaysian boss is a film distributor.
In an interview uploaded on YouTube, Shankar, who runs the popular online news channel "Savukku" or whip, noted that the NCB said the syndicate has links in Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia.
“Since they (NCB) mentioned Malaysia, let me give you a clue. Jaffer’s boss is in Malaysia. He is very influential in the Indian cinema industry.
“He is the one who controls Jaffer. This Malaysian has close ties with numerous celebrities in the Tamil film industry. If he is arrested, many players in the Tamil film industry will be implicated,” he added.
Huge network
In the interview, which had recorded close to half a million views, Shankar did not disclose the name of the Malaysian “boss”.
Yesterday, it was reported that the NCB arrested Jaffer (above) in Delhi on Saturday and investigations are being carried out into his financial links, including the sources of his funds and beneficiaries of the proceeds from the drugs.
The NCB accused him of earning huge sums of money from his alleged illicit drug trafficking operations and investing in legitimate businesses in industries like film, construction and the hospitality sectors.
“Jaffer spearheaded a network that sourced pseudoephedrine in India and trafficked it to Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia in the guise of food-grade cargo.
“It is believed that the drug syndicate operated by him has sent 45 consignments over the past three years to various countries, containing approximately 3,500kg of pseudoephedrine," he added.
On Feb 25, Tamil Nadu’s ruling party DMK sacked Jaffer after the allegations surfaced. - Mkini
