Saarani said allegations of breaches to election campaign rules must go through the proper channels so that a holistic investigation could be held.
He also denied that BN candidate Yusri Bakir committed wrongdoing by attending an event organised by the state government while on the campaign trail, saying it was normal for candidates to go to places with large crowds to meet voters.
“Election candidates must go wherever there are large crowds, because that’s the easiest way for them (to meet constituents).
“Bersih can report their allegations to the EC, let the commission decide,” he said after attending an event at Sekolah Menengah Sains Tapah here.
Yesterday, Bersih claimed that BN had misused government resources for its campaigning, saying this went against the principles of free and fair elections.
The electoral reform group also accused BN of misusing government machinery by way of Saarani attending an event with Tapah youths, which was also attended by Yusri. - FMT
