Bersatu Publicises Purge Of Members In Newspapers Includes Elected Reps

Bersatu today took out a full-page advertisement in newspapers to publicise the expulsion of rebellious members, including several assemblypersons
The advertisement lists a total of 282 expelled members, including Batang Kali assemblyperson Harumaini Omar, Jeram assemblyperson Shaid Rosli and Kuang assemblyperson Sallehudin Amiruddin
Also to be expelled is Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Sanusi, one of the seven founding members of Bersatu
With Akhramsyah's expulsion, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin is the sole founding member left in the party
Other notable expulsions include Bersatu Youth information chief Ulya Aqamah Husamudin, Bersatu's former Kayang assemblyperson candidate Abdul Hanaan Khairy, and Azlina Mehtab Mohd Ishaq who was challenging Family, Women and Community Development Minister Rina Harun for the Wanita Bersatu chief post
Some of the expelled members had announced their departure before the formal advertisement today
The notice, published in Berita Harian and Utusan Malaysia, listed the expelled members' name, state, division and membership number
The notice read: “Bersatu informs the name list below had violated Article 10.2 - Article 10.2.2/Article 10.2.3/Article 10.2.4 of the Bersatu constitution. Therefore, their membership is void with immediate effect.”Article 10.2 of the Bersatu's constitution states that a person loses their party membership if they declare their exit from the party, join another political party or contest in the election against the party's official candidate
The notice was signed off by Bersatu executive secretary Muhammad Suhaimi Yahya
Several Bersatu members have been in open rebellion in support of former Bersatu chairperson and founder Dr Mahathir Mohamad who has announced the formation of an upcoming splinter party called Pejuang
This is after Bersatu expelled Mahathir and his allies from the party after he opposed Muhyiddin's decision to join forces with Umno
