Bangladeshi Nabbed For Using Fake Visit Pass From Id Hack Syndicate

The suspect was arrested at a luxury condominium in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, in an enforcement operation by the immigration department.PETALING JAYA: The immigration department today reported the arrest of a 30-year-old Bangladeshi computer shop owner who used a fake temporary employment visit pass (PLKS) obtained through the “ID Hack” syndicate.
Immigration director-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud said the man was arrested in an enforcement operation by the department’s intelligence and special operations division at a luxury condominium in Kuala Lumpur two days ago.
“We also arrested his wife, a 44-year-old Indonesian,” he said in a statement.
Khairul said the raid was carried out following a series of operations by “Op ID Hack” to completely eliminate the remnants of the group that were still operating and to track down those using the temporary employment visit pass stickers issued by the syndicate.
“The suspect is a wholesaler and seller of computer goods at a leading shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur. By simply using the fake PLKS, he was able to rent a shop and managed to reap profits from the business,” he said adding that the suspect also managed to rent a luxury condominium.
Khairul added that they also found that the suspect had falsely claimed he was a Pakistani national to trick some customers.
“The suspect was known as ‘Ali’ among Pakistani customers and as ‘Munsi Jewel’ by Bangladeshi customers around Kuala Lumpur,” he said, adding that cash totalling RM162,077 was found in the suspect’s residence.
Cash totalling RM162,077 was also seized by the immigration department from the suspect’s condominium.According to Khairul, the man and his wife were suspected of having committed an offence under the Immigration Act 15/63 (Act 155) and detained under Section 51(5) (b) of the Immigration Act at the Semenyih Immigration Detention depot for further action.
In April, it was reported that a former staff member of the immigration department was among the individuals suspected of having created a pathway for the PLKS forgery syndicate to hack into the department’s database system.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Azam Baki said the service of the staff member was terminated several years ago.
“It is believed that this staff member had access to the immigration database system and had allowed the syndicate to steal the passwords used by immigration officers. The syndicate members used various equipment, such as a router, to hack into the system.
“They were able to duplicate the software and print the PLKS without going inside the immigration office,” he said. - FMT
