Audit Raises Questions Over Mysejahtera Records
The audit report found that 1,657 individuals had more than one MySejahtera account.PETALING JAYA: The Auditor-General’s Report 2021 Series 2 has raised several questions about the records stored in the MySejahtera application.
Released today by the national audit department, the report found that among the application’s weaknesses include a “super admin” account that had downloaded three million information sets through various IP addresses.
The report found that 203,846 records were uploaded to the MySejahtera system before the date the recipients were vaccinated. There were also 28,735 vaccination records showing that they had received their vaccines after the vaccination centres had closed.
The report also stated that there were 1.12 million attacks on the MySejahtera application as of Oct 27, 2021 but did not state whether these attempts were successful or not.
Other weaknesses identified in the report include 1,657 individuals who had more than one MySejahtera account and 12,275 incomplete vaccination records.
In order to ensure such issues did not occur in the future, the national audit department recommended that the health ministry ensure that the management of MySejahtera and MyVAS (vaccination administration system) comply with existing ICT guidelines.
“The health ministry has to carry out data housekeeping to ensure its data is always complete and can be trusted,” said the report.
“The health ministry is also advised to evaluate the overall safety of MySejahtera and MyVAS and to increase its security standards to guarantee their systems’ security and that of its data.”
The report said that while the management of Covid-19 vaccine recipients’ registration and the MySejahtera application was carried out well and helped the country combat the Covid-19 pandemic, it was still necessary for an audit to be carried out to evaluate whether Covid-19 vaccine recipients’ registration was done efficiently.
The audit on the MySejahtera was also crucial in evaluating whether it achieved its objective of providing the public with vaccine certificates, monitoring their health while they were under quarantine and helping the health ministry with contact tracing. - FMT
