The bottom line is, the 7-7-21 midnight coup flopped, Muhyiddin is still prime minister, Anwar is still prime minister-in-waiting for the 40th year, Dr Mahathir fell off his chair laughing, England is now in the final, and Zahid came out looking like a circus clown. NO HOLDS BARRED

As England beat Denmark in front of 60,000 English supporters (and 7,500 dejected Danish supporters) in the packed stadium to qualify for the final against Italy this Sunday, Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that Umno was leaving the government with immediate effect.

As England enters the final, Zahid exits finally This morning, however, it was business as usual in Putrajaya and nothing changed. So, what happened?
A lot is being said and written over the last 8 hours since Umno ‘left’ the government and the many clarifications and explanations just create even more confusion than it clears up. Maybe I can summarise the points so that the picture becomes less hazy.

Muhyiddin is still prime minister, says the AG The long four-page press release that Zahid read out after the Umno supreme council meeting was prepared BEFORE and not AFTER the Umno supreme council meeting. Hence it was not a press release to announce the decision of the Umno supreme council meeting.
That midnight press release was Zahid’s personal statement and not Umno’s statement. Umno did not endorse or approve that statement. Zahid did not present that statement at the Umno supreme council meeting, and it was not based on a consensus by Umno. In fact, what Zahid announced was the opposite of what Umno had agreed.
What had been agreed at the Umno supreme council meeting was that each Umno MP is free to make his-her own decision on whether to support the Perikatan Nasional government or not.
The announcement that Umno has left the government does not change anything because the Umno MPs are still in the government even if the party may have supposedly ‘left’ the government.

Zahid has no authority to demand that Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin resign and hand power to a new prime minister to take over. Zahid can only ask his own party members who are in the cabinet to resign from the government — but he did not do this, and he did not explain why he is demanding the prime minister’s resignation but not the resignation of the cabinet members from Umno.
While Zahid is demanding for the prime minister’s resignation so that a new prime minister can take over, he never mentioned who this prime minister will be. In fact, Zahid announced they will NOT support Anwar Ibrahim to take over as PM9. So, who will take over if Muhyiddin resigns?

Kalau kerajaan gagal, maka Umno yang gagal They said they will leave it to Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong to decide who the prime minister should be. His Majesty already did that, and His Majesty chose Muhyiddin Yassin.
PAN (a.k.a. Amanah) said Anwar Ibrahim has 88 MPs with him, hence Anwar should take over as prime minister. PAN also said Muhyiddin had 114 MPs with him 16 hours ago, but since breakfast, after Umno left the government, he is left with only 76 MPs. This means 38 Umno MPs have left the government after midnight last night.
Keputusan MKT Umno pada 7 Julai 2021 Thus far, no vote of no confidence has been passed in Parliament to prove that Muhyiddin does not have 114 MPs with him or that 38 Umno MPs have left the government. Hence, legally and officially, Muhyiddin still commands the confidence of the majority in Parliament.
Zahid condemned the government for its failure in solving the Covid-19 pandemic. But then the ministers in charge of these matters are all from Umno. So, would that not mean it is Umno that failed?

This figure would be 88,680 instead if we listen to the government critics and remove the SOP  The Umno activists such as Lokman Noor Adam condemn the lockdown and say that the lockdown should be removed since the Covid-19 infection rate is still high. For example, today it is 8,868 and 70% are from Pakatan Harapan areas such as Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur.
They say in spite of the lockdown the infection rate is still 8,868. So why have the lockdown? What they are not telling us is that, if the lockdown was not in place, the figure would probably be 88,680 rather than 8,868, like what is happening in other countries.

This can be Malaysia if we listen to the government critics Furthermore, just like what is happening in other countries, the infection rate increases as testing becomes more efficient and the testing rate increases. This is because only 10% of those who have Covid-19 show any symptoms.
Hence, the more you test, the higher the Covid-19 rate goes up. This is a sign of success, not failure, as this shows the testing efficiency rate has gone up.
The bottom line is, the 7-7-21 midnight coup flopped, Muhyiddin is still prime minister, Anwar is still prime minister-in-waiting for the 40th year, Dr Mahathir fell off his chair laughing, England is now in the final, and Zahid came out looking like a circus clown.
