Appreciate Umno Muhyiddin
MUHYIDDIN Yassin is now our prime minister. We don't deny it, neither do we refute it. As the premier, it's his prerogative rights to choose whoever is deemed fit to fill up various position in his Cabinet lineup.
UMNO has played its utmost part by supporting him. The party president Zahid Hamidi and the MPs have decided to turn to Muhyiddin after the power tussle episode that puts the country in international limelight. And the people are getting blase with the tug-of-war games.
To me, it is up to the prime minister to name his Cabinet. With or without Zahid and the rest of UMNO Members of Parliament, the party has help in liberating the country and its people from a dictatorial and a la politburo regime they chose in the last general election.
UMNO is right in choosing Muhyiddin. Except for some of his senior aides trying to deny UMNO's role by sharping their knives on Zahid, UMNO is leaving it to Muhyiddin to put that to an end. I am not pointing fingers at specific officers but since day one of the new government, Zahid and UMNO are treated like hooligans by some of them, by ignoring calls and showing off their stuck-up attitude.
UMNO is not power crazy like Dr Mahathir, Anwar and maybe Muhyiddin. To be considered a few ministerial posts is a privilege but UMNO's ultimate objective is to liberate the nation. The people has shown remorse in picking Pakatan Harapan during GE14 as translated in the last five by-elections.
The world is laughing at Dr M for still wanting to become a prime minister at the age of 95. Being a third-time PM, he will hold the world record for it. To him (maybe), he is the only one fit for the position, and not others. To him, no cronyism and nepotism will take place throughout his tenure.
The international community is also laughing (and with some sympathies too) for failing to secure the PM seat after three or four times being dodged by Dr M. Yes, I pity him but his past record goes along with his political times.
And finally, Dr M fall into the pit he dug himself for his brothers in politics. Call it brothers in arms if you may because there will be no end to this filthy and sickening drama.
In this aspect, I salute Muhyiddin for his quick conscience to come to the people's aid. UMNO, PAS, MCA, MIC and some other parties too were fast to digest the scenario and rally behind him to put whatever plan by Dr M and Anwar to jettison.
This is something for Muhyiddin to remember and appreciate. Although he didn't mentioned a bit of appreciation to the parties involved (as I believe his maiden speech as PM was prepared by his mentally-ill officers), I think he is aware of that. If not, he will be the world's shortest-reigning PM should some MPs withdraw their support.
Come May 18, the Parliament session will convene. I hope Muhyiddin is ready with names for his Cabinet lineup unless he prefers to delay it. I also hope the postponement doesn't contain any political tricks. As a former judge put it, there is still a tendency for Muhyiddin to form a new government with Dr M or even Anwar.
Once again, I would like to say that UMNO is not power crazy like them (and some officers at PMO presently). At least, recognise them for what they had done in pushing him up. To his officers, we are together now and treat us with togetherness. Or you feel otherwise?
For one thing, don't make Muhyiddin's government as a 'government of one day'. As government of the day, we are close behind you. May his Cabinet comprise of level-headed leaders... and officers!
